Our Conductor

Our Conductor – Elliott Rentoul

Elliot’s music is growing fabulously… There are seeds planted in so many areas, all tended with great skill. This is political, textual, personal music that makes compelling listening.” -Dr Kim Cunio

Elliot Rentoul is a Brisbane-based composer, music educator and choral specialist, whose works have been performed locally and internationally. Elliot has long fostered a keen interest in choral conducting, having volunteered with Voices of Birralee’s training choirs in the propensity of musical assistant since 2015. At the end of their Bachelor of Music (Honours) in 2017, Elliot was awarded a University Medal and is currently receiving a Pinnacle Scholarship as they complete their post-graduate education studies. Elliot’s exploration of the intersection(s) of choral music and activism as part of their compositional and research output led to them joining the Brisbane Pride Choir in 2017 and being appointed Musical Director in late 2018. Elliot was also appointed Musical Director of the Avegates Southside Singers in 2019.
